The Millie & Ruben Trust is an emerging community initiative created to honour Millie and Ruben. We are working toward establishing a formal charitable trust to support bereaved families affected by road trauma, raise awareness of the harms associated with unsafe driving behaviours – including drug-impaired driving – advocate for safer road policies, and promote health education in Aotearoa.

    Millie

In Loving Memory of Amelia Rose Stockdale-Frost (Millie)

    1 October 1998 – 9 December 2024

Amelia Rose Stockdale-Frost — affectionately known as Millie — was born on 1 October 1998 at Christchurch Maternity Hospital. At two years old, she moved with her family to Havelock North, where she grew up in a loving, nurturing and caring home surrounded by many loving family and friends.

Millie attended Taradale Kindergarten, Bledisloe Primary, Taradale Intermediate, and Napier Girls’ High School. She was a bright, caring, and outgoing young woman who radiated warmth and joy wherever she went. People were naturally drawn to her caring nature, energy and bubbly personality.

At 17, Millie’s sense of adventure led her overseas to work as an au pair in the United States. Her travels took her across Colorado, Chicago, Texas, and Italy, and she fulfilled a childhood dream by visiting Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida. Her time abroad reflected her independence, courage, and love of new experiences.

At 22, Millie married, and soon after welcomed her two beautiful daughters — Hazel Grace Ariana and Ava Rose Jayne — who became the absolute centre of her world. Millie was a devoted and loving mother, giving her girls every ounce of her energy, creativity, and love.

In 2024, after bravely navigating life as a solo parent, Millie decided to move to Rotorua with her partner Jo and her daughters, seeking a fresh start and new opportunities. Just three weeks later, her life — and Ruben’s — was tragically cut short in a crash in December 2024.

Millie will always be remembered as a beloved daughter (her name, Amelia, means “beloved”), a loving sister to Olivia and Ruben, a devoted mother to Hazel and Ava, and a loyal friend to many. Her compassion, courage, and love of life continue to inspire us.

    Ruben

In Loving Memory of Ruben James Stockdale-Frost

    27 January 2006  – 9 December 2024

Ruben James Stockdale-Frost was born on 27th Jan 2006 and was the much-loved only son of Ariana and Bryson, and the adored little brother of Olivia and Millie. From the beginning, Ruben brought love, humour, and a quiet strength to those around him.

Growing up in Hawke’s Bay, Ruben attended Bledisloe Primary, Taradale Intermediate, and Napier Boys’ High School. For NCEA Level 1 & 2 he was home schooled by his mum. He was intelligent, loyal, and humble, with a sharp wit and a deep kindness that made him a natural friend to many. Ruben had an adventurous spirit — he loved exploring the outdoors for geckos and skinks, buying tropical fish for his aquariums, working at the National Aquarium, his family and close friends

After finishing school, Ruben began carving out his own path, exploring new opportunities and building a life that reflected his easygoing and caring nature. He was a young man who loved his family deeply and held a special bond with his nieces, Hazel and Ava, who adored their fun-loving uncle.

Ruben’s life was tragically cut short on 9 December 2024, alongside his sister Millie. Though his time on earth was far too brief, his impact was profound. He is remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the quiet strength that defined him.

Ruben will forever be remembered as a beloved son, a cherished brother, a devoted uncle, and a true friend. His laughter, humility, and gentle heart live on in all who knew and loved him.

    The Trust

The Millie & Ruben Trust exists to honour both siblings — celebrating the way they lived, the love they shared, and the difference they made in the lives of others. Through the Trust, their spirit continues to inspire hope, compassion, and positive change in their community.

The Millie & Ruben Trust is an unregistered community initiative currently exploring charitable registration. All funds are held transparently and used solely to support the kaupapa of promoting safer driving, raising awareness about the impacts of road trauma, and caring for the legacy of Millie and Ruben. Proceeds from Millie’s artwork will go directly toward the education of her two daughters, Hazel (4) and Ava (3).
